J Stone the Human Beatbox is a vocal beatbox artist based out of San Francisco, CA who has been performing"mouth-matics" since 2001. First starting as a vocal percussionist for a cappella group named Company B, J-stone soon honed his technique of simultaneously beat-boxing while singing, creating an auditory illusion of the two elements happening at the same time. Creating beat-box covers like the Beatles' "Come Together" and Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Under the Bridge," he began performing professionally around the San Francisco Bay Area. He has now wowed crowds from Tel-Aviv, Israel to Kathmandu, Nepal and has shared the stage with DJ Mei-Lwun, Coolooloosh, and Yuri Lane to name a few. Part human beat-box, part live-looper, and all world citizen, J continues to explore the infinite possibilities of the world's most versatile instrument: the human voice. In 1998, K Sos began writing music at age 13. In 2000 he purchased the original Reason and started putting songs together. After teaching himself how to use the program, it took three years for him to complete his first album; a nine song LP entitled Naturally Aspired Funk. That record was followed up by 4 others over the next two years backed by his performance at several local events. After the release of his fifth LP, Live from 713 (recorded in a George Washington University dorm room) he returned to Florida and took a hiatus from music in pursuit of other interests. A year and a half later a seemingly directionless K Sos stumbled upon some inspiration when he received K.D. & J.O.’s mixtape “I Do This For Fun Vol. 1” from a mutual friend. The DINOSAUR story that followed can be found on the N.O.C. bio page. During some time away from the DINOSAUR recordings, K Sos recorded a solo mixtape entitled the PRESPORT in order to reignite his following and promote the group album. Its sequel “Transient Wedding” is slating for late 2009. Click the album cover below to download and listen to the PRESPORT Mixtape for free.
During a 2 month break from recording the group album, K Sos began a solo mixtape to give fans something to jam to until the group project was complete. After writing 18 songs, 12 made the final cut which was mixed down by himself and KD in less than 5 hours. Three songs featured verses from J.O. and two songs we’re cowritten and performed with Rams. The side project was deemed the PRESPORT. It was manufactured as a free mixtape for anyone who wanted a copy in hopes to revive his following and raising awareness about the group album soon to come. The PRESPORT has now distributed over 4,000 copies since its release in September 2008.
