Sdar Lotus: Channeling Sound, Spirit, and Soul
At the intersection of sound healing, modern music, and spiritual artistry stands Sdar Lotus — a multidisciplinary creative who weaves crystal frequencies, Reiki energy, and emotional depth into sonic journeys of light and transformation. We caught up with the longtime friend of the Skinny Buddha community to talk about her creative process, spiritual inspiration, and the cosmic balance behind her name.
The Sound of Healing

For Sdar Lotus, every song begins with vibration — literally.
“I start with my Crystal Alchemy Sound Bowls,” she explains. “Each one carries its own energetic and emotional resonance. I tune into their frequencies and let the music emerge from there.”
As a Reiki and Energy Healer, her creative flow is deeply connected to energy work. “A lot of what comes through is channeled,” she says. “Being immersed in that field allows everything to flow authentically and at a high frequency. I love blending that spiritual energy with grounded, modern elements — it keeps the music relatable while still carrying a healing vibration.”
The result is a sound that bridges worlds — a balance of elevated frequency and everyday soul.
The Meaning Behind The Name
“The name Sdar Lotus represents the balance between the cosmic and the earthly aspects of who I am,” she explains. “‘Sdar’ holds that universal, cosmic vibration — light, expansion, the stars — while ‘Lotus’ grounds it into the Earth, symbolizing growth, transformation, and beauty from the mud.”
The “D” in Sdar carries personal meaning, too. “My name is Darcie, or Dar — so spelling ‘Star’ with a ‘D’ felt like weaving a part of myself into the name. It marks my evolution — embodying both the human and the energetic sides of who I am.”
The name itself becomes a mantra: grounded yet galactic, peaceful yet powerful.

A Connection Rooted in Community
Sdar’s relationship with Skinny Buddha goes beyond music.
“Skinny Buddha has been such a genuine source of support and inspiration,” she says. “From the beginning, they shared my work and my message in a way that made me feel truly seen.”
She credits Justin Davenport, the founder of Skinny Buddha, for cultivating an authentic creative ecosystem. “He really creates space for artists to shine. He uplifts creative voices and gives them a platform to be heard — it’s rare, and it’s real. That community energy has been a big part of my growth.”
For Sdar, collaboration and community are not side notes — they’re sacred parts of the

Channeling Spirit Through Sound
When asked if music feels spiritual, her answer is immediate:
“Absolutely. Creating music is both channeling and energy work. I want people to feel uplifted — to be singing words that act like positive affirmations.”
In the studio, she treats the process as a divine collaboration. “My producer and I talk about life, energy, and intention while building the songs from my Crystal Alchemy Bowls. Each bowl holds its own alchemy — gemstones, crystals, and earth elements — and that vibration becomes the heartbeat of the track.”
Some lyrics arrive fully formed during meditation; others are refined later when the energy aligns. “It’s a spiritual and creative practice — weaving light and emotion into sound that people can feel in their hearts.”
Music with Intention
Sdar’s purpose is as clear as her tone: “I want my music to help people remember their light.”
Her songs carry affirmations of self-love and authenticity — a reflection of her own journey through doubt and rediscovery. “When people told me I sang too loud or my lyrics weren’t good enough, I learned to love myself louder. I want others to do the same — to never let anyone dim their creativity.”
Through sound, she aims to inspire joy, self-expression, and healing:
“Music can lift the weight of the world, even for a moment"
What’s Next for Sdar Lotus
Right now, Sdar is creating across multiple realms — literally.
She’s working on three albums simultaneously, each expressing a different facet of her artistry:
- An EDM EP blending dance energy with healing instruments and nature sounds — “music you can move to while receiving intentional frequencies.”
- An acoustic album with guitarist Benny Booch, capturing the raw and soulful essence of voice and guitar.
- A full-length project arriving next spring or summer — an ethereal R&B fusion that merges sensuality, spirituality, and design. “I’m building a cement tree bench, designing my own wardrobe, and filming the process for Instagram Reels,” she says with a laugh. “It’s all one giant creative ritual.”
Across it all, her mission stays consistent: to merge sound and spirit into art that heals, uplifts, and connects.
